Regulatory Horizon Scanning: UK & Ireland, August 2026

A blurry image of office workers with the title of this blog in bold on top - "AI in Compliance Review: Signal vs Hype"

August brought significant changes across UK and Irish financial services regulation, from the simplification of transaction reporting and IPO processes to renewed scrutiny of crypto promotions, consumer disclosures and operational resilience.

The latest Adclear Regulatory Horizon brings the most consequential developments together in one practical briefing. Each update explains what changed, what it means for regulated firms and where compliance, legal and operational teams should focus next.

What is covered in the report

The UK and Ireland edition examines developments across banking, consumer credit, cryptoassets, Consumer Duty, investments, ESG, insurance, pensions, payments and cross-sector regulation.

Key developments include the FCA’s reduction of UK transaction-reporting requirements, the removal of the IPO research waiting period, the motor finance redress implementation deadline and the application of Ireland’s Consumer Protection Code across digital customer journeys.

The report also identifies four upcoming dates requiring attention, including the CBI consultation deadline on 30 September, the FCA’s AIFM and FRAME deadlines on 22 October, ESMA’s ESG ratings registration deadline on 2 November and the CRR3 operational risk consultation closing on 31 December.

Turn regulatory change into action

Regulatory simplification rarely means that firms can simply stop doing something. Requirements must be translated into updated policies, workflows, systems and evidence.
