NatWest cuts marketing compliance approval times by 80% with Adclear's AI Agents

LONDON, 28th October - Adclear, the provider of agent-driven compliance infrastructure for the financial services sector, has today announced a partnership with NatWest to overhaul how compliance is embedded across its marketing and communications operations, allowing the bank to scale content production without compliance becoming the bottleneck.

‍

The move comes as FCA interventions on financial promotions have doubled year on year, while the volume of marketing content financial services firms need to review continues to grow. Compliance teams typically spend a huge amount of time reviewing assets by hand, often pushing campaign launches back by three to five days - a gap that widens every time marketing output scales faster than manual review can follow.

‍

NatWest has built up product marketing across current accounts, credit cards, loans, mortgages and savings over many years, with each product line historically supported by its own review process and tooling. As the bank has moved to centralise its marketing operations onto a single workflow system, that fragmentation has become a bottleneck: more content flowing through fewer, more central compliance teams, with the risk of slowing the business down rather than speeding it up. Adclear is folding its AI compliance checks into NatWest's marketing approvals process as part of that centralisation, retiring a patchwork of legacy tools and manual sign-off in favour of a single, tech-first standard for reviewing content across the business.

‍

Adclear consolidates NatWest's infrastructure into one platform, screening website, social, marketing and advertising content in real time and flagging where copy, creative or disclosures fall short of relevant regulations before it goes live. Integrated directly into NatWest's Workfront workflow system, it gives everyone involved in sign-off a single, consistent review process across every product line and channel, rather than requiring separate tools and separate sign-off for each.

‍

The rollout builds on NatWest's existing five-year data and AI transformation programme with Accenture, which is also supporting the integration of Adclear's compliance checks into the bank's wider technology estate.

‍

For a bank operating at NatWest's scale, serving around 20 million customers, the shift from fragmented legacy systems to one centralised platform is designed to remove duplication, cut review times and give compliance teams a clear, consistent audit trail - all without slowing down the pace at which marketing needs to publish. Since integration, NatWest has cut approval times for marketing content by 80%, allowing campaigns to move from review to market in a fraction of the time it previously took.

‍

The partnership positions Adclear as the compliance standard other UK financial institutions are increasingly measuring themselves against, as marketing and communications teams across the sector come under pressure to scale AI-generated content without slowing compliance down.

‍

Adclear's AI is relied on by marketers from across the financial sector to ensure that financial promotions adhere to relevant regulations, whilst providing an in-depth audit trail for compliance teams. Its technology is already used by Monzo, Lloyds Banking Group, PensionBee, IG Group, Freetrade, Yonder, Trade Nation, ActivTrades, Ocean Finance, Flagstone and Blockchain.com.

‍

Matthew Harwood, Head of Marketing and Engagement Platforms at NatWest, said:

“Adclear has helped us turn compliance from something that slowed marketing down into something that actively supports how fast we can move. Cutting our approval times by 80% has let our teams focus on producing better, more relevant content rather than waiting on sign-off, and that speed is now a genuine advantage in how quickly we can get campaigns to customers. This is exactly the kind of technology-led transformation we want running across the bank.”

‍

Doni Hoti, CEO and co-founder of Adclear, said:

"Financial promotions compliance hasn't kept pace with how much content marketing teams now produce - output across the sector has grown roughly tenfold over the past decade, while most firms are still running the same manual, email-based approval chains they always have. The rules were never the bottleneck, the process around them was. NatWest recognised that early, and this partnership is what happens when a bank decides to fix the process itself rather than manage around it.”
