Monzo expands Adclear across the UK, Ireland and Spain after cutting approval times by nearly 82%

Monzo, the UK’s largest neobank, is expanding its use of Adclear across all three of its live markets: the UK, Ireland and Spain.

Adclear has already transformed how Monzo UK’s marketing, product, compliance and legal teams create, review and approve content. Since introducing the platform, Monzo UK has reduced its compliance approval process by nearly 82% and tripled its first-time approval rate.

Monzo is now extending the same AI-powered technology across Monzo Ireland and Monzo Spain, creating one compliance platform adapted to three different regulatory regimes.

Doni Hoti, co-founder and CEO of Adclear, said:

“Marketing teams today are under pressure to produce more content, across more channels, than ever before. As teams expand across jurisdictions, they cannot compromise on regulatory standards. Our work with Monzo shows how AI can remove that tension by building compliance directly into the creative process across three markets at once. Instead of acting as a bottleneck, compliance becomes an enabler, helping teams move faster, stay consistent across markets, and scale with confidence into new markets.”

Faster approvals across three markets

Adclear is now embedded into Monzo’s marketing processes across the UK, Ireland and Spain. The technology analyses content in real time and flags the changes required to bring it into line with the relevant rules in each market.

This covers Monzo’s websites, social media, marketing, advertising and in-app content, including outbound communications and product screens created to promote its financial products.

Providing compliance guidance during content creation helps marketing and product teams prepare stronger work for approval. Legal and compliance teams retain oversight, supported by a detailed audit trail showing what was reviewed, what changes were made and how the final content was approved.

The approach has already delivered a significant improvement in the UK. Approval cycles are nearly 82% shorter, while the first-time approval rate has increased threefold. This gives marketing teams a faster and more predictable route to publication while allowing legal and compliance teams to focus their expertise on higher-risk or more complex decisions.

AJ Coyne, Group CMO at Monzo, said:

"Great marketing earns trust rather than claiming it, and everything we put out has to live up to the promises we make to our customers. It also has to move at the pace we do. That's where Adclear comes in. It means our teams can create boldly and ship fast, knowing compliance is built in from the start rather than bolted on at the end. For a brand growing as quickly as ours, that's the difference between compliance being a handbrake and compliance being something that actually helps us grow."

One platform for three regulatory regimes

Every new market brings its own regulatory rules, guidance and approval requirements. Products, audiences and marketing channels can also require different levels of review.

Adclear gives Monzo a shared workflow across all three markets, with compliance checks and approval routes configured around the requirements of each geography. This allows teams to work through one familiar platform while applying the appropriate regulatory framework to every piece of content.

For Monzo, the result is a pan-European approach to marketing compliance that combines consistent group-level governance with the flexibility required by teams in the UK, Ireland and Spain.

Adam Little, Marketing Lead EU Expansion at Monzo, said:

“Expanding our partnership with Adclear is a huge step in how we scale marketing at Monzo, whilst maintaining the highest standards of compliance. As we grow into new geographies, we need processes that can keep pace with both regulatory expectations and the unique demands of each market. Adclear’s AI allows our marketing and compliance teams to work more closely together, reducing friction in approvals and giving us total confidence that everything we publish - wherever it’s published - is clear, fair and compliant.”

Supporting Monzo’s European expansion

The rollout comes as Monzo accelerates its growth in Europe. The bank secured a full banking license through the European Central Bank and Central Bank of Ireland at the end of 2025, creating the foundation for its expansion across the region.

Monzo launched in Ireland in April 2026 and has continued its expansion into Spain. In the UK, it already serves more than 15 million customers across current accounts, joint accounts, business accounts and savings pots.

As its European operations grow, Monzo will produce a greater volume and variety of customer-facing content across products, channels and markets. A shared compliance platform gives its teams the infrastructure to manage that growth with consistent standards, clear oversight and faster approvals.

Adclear is already used globally by Lloyds Banking Group, PensionBee, IG Group, Freetrade, Yonder, Trade Nation, ActivTrades and Ocean Finance, as well as two of the world’s largest cryptocurrency exchanges. Its AI helps financial marketing teams identify compliance issues and improve content during the creative process, while giving legal and compliance teams detailed records of every review and approval. Monzo’s rollout across the UK, Ireland and Spain shows how that model can support international growth: one platform, three regulatory regimes and a compliance process built to move at the pace of the business.
