Blockchain.com partners with Adclear to strengthen controls for crypto marketing in the UK

London, UK - Adclear, the compliance platform for financial promotions and communications, has today announced a partnership with one of the world's longest-running crypto companies, Blockchain.com, to run AI-powered compliance checks across its UK marketing output.

Blockchain.com is integrating Adclear's cutting-edge compliance technology into its existing approvals workflow to ensure all website, social media, marketing and advertising content adheres to the latest financial promotions requirements.

The partnership comes as the UK's cryptoasset financial promotions regime is set to tighten. FinProm rules first extended to the crypto sector in October 2023 - and this year saw the FCA bring its first enforcement action against a firm for breaching them. In October 2027, the FCA will tighten its rules further, with the establishment of a new regulatory framework for all cryptoasset businesses.

Adclear's platform will sit inside Blockchain.com's UK marketing and compliance functions to help it clear this regulatory bar, screening content in real time and flagging where copy, creative or disclosures fall short of relevant regulations before content goes live. This includes content and assets created to promote Blockchain.com’s Crypto Wallet, Brokerage and Explorer products. For a firm operating at Blockchain.com's scale - it has processed over $1.2 trillion in transactions and serves more than 90 million wallets worldwide - the technology streamlines regulatory review and prevents compliance processes from creating a marketing bottleneck.

The deal follows Blockchain.com's FCA registration earlier this year, which allows the firm to offer custody and brokerage services to UK customers under one of the world's most closely watched regulatory regimes. With that registration comes a step-change in its obligations: every promotional communication - from app copy to social posts - now has to maintain a  fair, clear and not misleading standard, alongside crypto-specific requirements around risk warnings, cooling-off periods and target-audience appropriateness.

Adclear's AI is relied on by marketers from across the financial sector to ensure that financial promotions adhere to relevant regulations, whilst providing an in-depth audit trail for compliance teams. Its technology is already used by Lloyds Banking Group, PensionBee, IG Group, Freetrade, Yonder, Trade Nation, ActivTrades, Ocean Finance and Flagstone, as well as two of the world's largest crypto exchanges and the UK's largest neobank.

James Madison, Chief Marketing Officer at Blockchain.com, said:

“We publish across multiple products and various marketing channels, often on tight timelines. Those pieces of content need to meet UK requirements before they go out to customers, and up to now that's relied heavily on manual review. Working with Adclear means our marketing team gets a clear answer on compliance quickly, so we can keep up with the pace the business requires, whilst streamlining the review process and ensuring our content is compliant."

Doni Hoti, CEO and co-founder of Adclear, said:

"Crypto has gone from one of the least regulated corners of financial marketing to one of the most tightly enforced, in the space of about two years. Firms that got ahead of that shift are now in a much stronger position than those still treating compliance as a final check before publishing. Blockchain.com has chosen to build compliance into the marketing process itself, which is exactly the direction we think the whole sector is heading."
