About

Salad is a UK lender helping people access credit who may be underserved by mainstream lenders. It uses Open Banking data to assess applicants’ income, spending and ability to repay, giving people access to lending based on their current financial circumstances rather than their credit score.

‍

Problem

Salad’s marketing and compliance teams were managing financial promotion approvals through email and shared folders.

‍

When content was ready for review, marketing would email the creative or share its file location. Feedback and approval came back over email, while supporting documentation was stored separately.

‍

This left the content, revisions and approval decisions spread across different places. Reconstructing the history of a promotion meant referring back to email conversations and finding the corresponding files, with the team responsible for keeping everything organised manually.

‍

For a lean business producing content across social media, paid advertising, email and its website, Salad needed a more consistent way to manage reviews and keep a clear record of each approval.

‍

The teams faced three key challenges:

  • Feedback and approvals spread across email conversations
  • Versions and supporting documentation stored in separate folders
  • A manual process for maintaining the approval history

‍

What we did

Adclear brought Salad’s marketing and compliance teams into a shared approval workflow, with content, feedback and version history held together.

‍

Marketing can now run AI pre-checks before submitting a promotion for review. These flag potential issues while content is still being drafted, giving the team an opportunity to address them before compliance begins its assessment.

‍

Once a promotion is submitted, compliance receives an automatic notification. Each subsequent revision is tracked through version control, making it easier to follow changes and identify the latest version.

‍

Together, these changes give both teams a clearer view of how a promotion progresses from draft to approval. Marketing gets earlier feedback on its content, while compliance can review submissions with the previous versions and associated feedback available in the same place.

‍

The approval record also develops alongside the work. Rather than organising documentation across email and folders, the teams can refer back to the promotion’s history within Adclear.

‍

Across the reporting period, Salad submitted 190 promotions through the platform, with 84.7% approved first time and a recorded approval time of two days. Promotions averaged 1.2 versions.

‍

Salad now has a more structured way to manage financial promotions across its marketing channels, with earlier checks, clear handovers and an accessible history of each review.
